Wipers won't park. but park switch works off the motor!
Hey peeps last year I had an issue with my wipers. Basically changed the blades and stupid me didn't wash the screen and thus the friction was too much and it burnt the motor. I stripped the motor and it looked ok. Next day it just packed up. Managed to find a very helpful man in the Scottish borders. Anyway he had a good second hand motor so we swapped that over and fitted New gearing as mine was work and the new motor was different.

Put it back together and now it won't park unless I time it right and pull the storm all the way down!.
So we played with the park switch and that worked, swapped it with another one and still worked off the motor. Checked to see if the ramp on the gears was in the right location and it is but for some reason the park switch won't work when fitted back on the motor as if the pin is too short!!

Anyone got any ideas? Couldn't stay long as was driving from Edinburgh to London so was happy just to have wipers lol.

I had similar problem after fitting a new motor and gears.

It was due to play in the gearing main shaft. Check you have the washers on the shaft correctly fitted.

If I remember correctly the main shaft for the gears is held in place with a cir-clip. Check the washer between the motor casing and the cir-clip is the correct one as if there is any play could mean the ramp isn't close enough to the park switch.

Also maybe same if the washer inside between the gears and the motor casing is too thick?

Hmm cant remember there being that many sprung washers, Guessing thats the issue then!!! Will have a play later lol, Replacing the gears has made a HUGE difference thou, The wipers dont go off the screen or hit the bottom of the windscreen any more they were that worn lol
