I don't think there is any doubt that the guy is a genius on the snooker table, and like all geniuses he has some character flaws, predominantly that he is a bit of a t1t.
In an ideal world the highest paid people would be soldiers, nurses etc but it isn't an ideal world so its probably a bit unfair to compare his earnings to the average Joe - they should probably be compared to other sports people. Wayne Rooney gets paid about £13k for 3-4 minutes on a football field, during which time he might not even touch the ball, so is it fair that someone completing the hardest task in Snooker gets less? When he completed his fastest 147 back in 1997 he received £147,000 for it so by comparison he probably thinks the current offering, 20 years later, is somewhat unfair. Having said all that if I had paid for a ticket to watch him yesterday I probably wouldn't have been too impressed! |
