So they already have a 110 but why wouldn't you want a 2nd one:
"A new emergency response vehicle has been unveiled by the Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team. The new custom-built Toyota Hilux Mountain Rescue Ambulance will join the team’s fleet of emergency response vehicles - Calder Mobile 1 (Ford Ranger), Mobile 2 (Land Rover Defender 110) and Mobile 4 (Incident Control Vehicle – Movano). A spokesperson said the vehicle, which will be based at Copley, was made to exact specifications and requirements to carry all essential emergency rescue equipment. The Mytholmroyd-based team thanked supporters who helped fund the vehicle. A 6ft person could lie down in a 110 (just) but couldn't fit a stretcher. As with the Forestry Commission, they don't use them for extreme off roading, they just park them on the nearest fire road/path and walk.I think any victim that needs stretchering in an emergency is likely to be choppered off.Non-emergencies will be carried/dragged to the nearest ambulance. They call them Ambulances because they carry live saving equipment and the walking wounded can be transported in them thus they fall under a suitable blue light category. If stretcher recovery was required remote from a road ambulance then they would firstly use a helicopter or a 110 if unsuitable conditions for helicopter. 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper

More than any other story this brings it home how sad the demise of the defender is. Defender's kitted out for mountain rescue have long been my favourite defenders (bit childish i know). That hilux is an abomination!

What makes a Defender unsuitable for mountain rescue once it reaches a certain age? Is it accountants? Is it insurance cover? 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

That's a nice breed.
Have you looked at the Kennel Club Assured Breeder scheme? It's not a bad place to start. |

The seedy world of the Kennel club and show breeders.Would much prefer to find an actual breeder that does ALL the health tests that the BVA (British Veterinary Association) recommend. The Kennel Club only seem to be exclusively interested in looks for showing, than actual health of the dog.

I'm certainly no fanboy for the Kennel Club, and there's probably still much to be done before the organization can be seen in a positive light by many; however don't write off the Assured Scheme without first looking at it. Clearly, a potential owner has to do some homework for themselves, but I had a positive experience of it when getting my Weimaraner.
