Replacing the heating pad is pretty easy - I did mine in about 30 mins. Just rather awkward having to carefully remove the hog rings, replacing them with small zip ties, as ickle suggested.

Agree with Martin that a cheap multimeter is useful - one of the many things owning a Defender has taught me!

United Kingdom 2005 Defender 90 Td5 XS CSW Java Black
Heat pad turned up today, fitted in about 20 minutes, made some new connectors as the pad I purchased didn't have one on the grey/black wires to lower seat pad, but easy to do as others said just pulled up the seat cover on itself peeled of the old pad from the foam, applied contact adhesive, pulled back down seat cover jobs done WHOO HOO warm ass now hopefully all the way on my 45 miles round commute to work!.
