Hi welcome to the forum
I have just (September) moved from a 200tdi csw to a 2010 2.4 xs utility. Mine by comparison to yours had 54k on the clock.Expect a different driving experience I would not say better or worse as it has a different character. The dash feels more of a barrier than I am used to, but having AC this summer(end of) it was nice to have cold air without windows down vents open and all the noise that went with it. The Heater is a revelation, first time I have ever been too hot in a Land Rover Check all of the normal items mentioned in the post above and you should be ok. Mine will sit happily at 70, I can hold a conversation and hear the radio. If I was trundling about locally I would have kept my 200, but longer trips and motorway miles made my mind up to change. Good luck and post some pictures if you go ahead. 2010 XS USW 1957 Series One 88 diesel 1958 Series One 88 4x2 |

Does the 2.4 need the oil pump recall, or was it just the 2.2?
200tdi and Puma are very different but both amazing in their own way. Good luck hope it goes well. Oil pump recall was only the 2.2.
Top of my head there were only two recalls for the 2.4, one was the sump, but that is only for the 2007 and early 2008 production cars, and then there has been one for the brake pipes. Dealer or Topix should be able to give you more details. Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Thank you all,
as we get older we look forward to the comfort side of things, the XS spec was a welcome sight as i usually drive around in a pick up with heated seats and A/C! Looking to convert her to a camping spec for nights and weekends away with the missus and dogs. |

Just been to North Yorkshire in my 2.2 90 from Essex a 445 mile round trip heater was great I've got the Mud heater thing which stops your near side leg getting burnt and puts the heat on to your feet well worth buying and add a set of good LED headlights the two best upgrade I can think of . Enjoy.

Check for oil around the injectors, it often means they're loose and the sealing washers need replacing asap.
Even with the injectors not sealing they drive really well, it makes a vast difference once they're done! They still have the usual Defender bodywork faults. But they are a different driving experience, the torque is brutal, you soon learn to change up early and let the torque do it's stuff. Overall they're much more refined, OK not Range Rover refined, but very close to a modern van. Still easy to drive around town, but on the motorway in top gear you can easily cruise in the fast lane and still hold a conversation! |

Get the registration number and do a search for "check MOT history" on the .gov.uk service and it will tell you all fails, advisories and mileages since it was three years old.

Hi Badger Welcome to the forum and nice to see another SW 110 ! We have converted 2 110s for camping - a 2007 2.4 and now have a 2012 2.2, using them all over Europe and Scandinavia, so just yell if you have any questions on that side. The TDCI is a good engine and the 6th gear makes it more relaxing on long trips causing at 60-65 on the motorists in the UK or 70-75 on the unlimited roads in Europe. Electrics seems to be the only recurrent issues so check you know your way around the main fuses and relays under the drivers seat. - and don’t be afraid to ask questions on here as there is a wealth of information available. Like many on here I’m looking forward to seeing some photographs of your vehicle and the conversion progress Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html Elgar -TDCI(Puma) 110XS Dormobile - now sold Devon & Cornwall 4x4 Response - DC126 |

I've had a brief run down of the serivce history including some work done to the clutch/gearbox area, wiring looms replaced under warranty, however i'll be going through the whole list before i hand over any cash!
I'll keep an eye on the injectors etc, cheers for the tip. A remap is looking to be first on the list of upgrades, however i'll cover that in another thread ( lots of information on here ! ) Mud heater sounds like a good idea I've had a good look through your gallery Wyvern and a few ideas have presented themselves...those seat/beds looked interesting to start with! i'll pick your brains a little more in the future Pick up tomorrow at 10ish after a test drive and scrutiny, although i wont be purchasing the extended RAC warranty as from what i've looked in to, it's really not worth it. Thanks all for the comments and suggestions |

Hi Badger,
I've owned my 2.4 110 USW MY61 which currently has 119,000 miles on it from nearly new, I know compared to other members here on Def2 this is merely ran in I can't say that I have not had any problems though, on my 3rd clutch, 3rd EGR, several warranty claims for corrosion etc, though out of all the vehicles I've owned the 110 has given me miles of smiles, and waves and I always look forward to getting into the drivers seat, unfortunately due to a new company VW Transporter, which I may add is a very nice motor though lacks the character of the 110 it will no longer be my daily driver, the 110 will be used for Land Rover weekends / camping and general tootling about now, as in my eyes its a keeper now, everytime I see another Defender now whilst out in the VW, I get the urge to wave.. So enjoy it mate, and post some pictures when you get her home Cheers MY2011 110 XS USW |
