Missing Grommets?
Will I went and bought a new 90 Adventure and I must say she is great leather everywhere. Then I noticed this,(see photo) two grommets missing from the snorkel, I phoned my dealer who then looked at his other Adventures in stock (big dealer) and said they are all the same.

You would think when you fork out £43k on a leather clad Defender they could afford two plastic grommets.

Had my main dealer tell me this on several issues - are they trained to give you this vacuous response? Is it right or wrong, is something missing or is there an explanation is what is required.

Had the same with my Mantec. Pop into your local electrical supplier and ask for 20mm grommets used for 13 amp socket back boxes. These should fit a treat. I only have one kicking around otherwise I'd have posted a couple off to you.

Tell your dealer to either get you those, or otherwise get written confirmation from JLR headoffice that these RAI are supposed to come from the factory without these grommets. It is small things, but no reason to accept such dealer answer.

They aren't my normal dealer although I did buy a 90 HT from them last year, it seems the box standard reply.

I will be seeing their sales manager or DP in a couple of weeks when she goes in for waxoiling, nas bumper and tow bar as that is not acceptable. 1998 90 50th Anniversary 4.0 V8

Doesn't look like they're BS'ing you when they say they're all like that, even the motor show one doesn't appear to be finished off.

Swac may be right. Checked pictures of a few for sale here in Switzerland, and seems there are no grommets here either. So might well be that it indeed is supposed to be like that. The good news about that is that it gives you a chance to a cheap and easy upgrade. Laughing Thumbs Up

Having not looked too closely at the fitting instructions before, I'm even more put off the product - only two lower fixings and you have to drill into the wing for them - yet the gasket and the RAI appear to have holes for 4 fixings?

Earlier versions had 4 fixings and better still they went into the area of the wing exposed when the original cover was removed.
