Topic Hijack !!!
MK if you're reading this, or anyone else, where are the cabels hanging ... I've been checking and I can't seem to find any cables on mine ... My DC did not bring radio or anything, could that be the reason?, or do I have to look better ?!! NOt sure. Mine were just under the fake cap. Can not remember the colour nor the plug type. Had a look to the manual and did not mention anything important. Not sure if you need a crossover. Any radio (or google) store should know.
Did u get my PM sent sometime ago? MK Puma 110" SW ............................................................. Earth first. Other planets later |

No! It's not an easy place to take a look ... but I could not find any wiring ... I'll take a better look later on ... Thank you! If I can't find it, I'll have to pay someone to fit mine ... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Images from my install, removed the factory fit speakers and fitted my own set. Remove, speaker cover (with tool shown, got this with my mobile phone car kit - very useful), remove main speaker in dash below, weight cable from new speaker and lower through the dash and connect into the Left/Right on existing main speaker and put back together... Works a treat. Factory fit tweeter has built in cross over, my new speakers had a separate box but makes no difference Mark "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the things you did..." |

my problem is that my car did not bring factory tweeters nor speakers and radio! .. I now have a radio installed and speakers ... but want a set of tweeters ... can't find the wiring - probably it's not there! - so I'll have to set up the wiring ... Regards

No its likely they have managed the loom so the connectors are wrapped up with the main loom - so you will need to go hunting. Mike

My was factory fit so easy to get to the loom, but the cables are only a spur off the main speaker feeds anyway, not separate feed from the head unit. Most ISO head units only have 8 feeds for speakers 4 x pairs i.e. 2 front and two back. Tweeters are not cabled separately.
Its the cross over that takes the output from the main head unit and reduces the frequencies down to just be those in the range of the tweeter. Therefore take the feed from the Left/right into your main 10" speaker, and connect directly to your cross over and then on into the tweeter or if the tweeter has built in cross over (like the factory fit tweeters) just direct from the LR 10" directly to the LR of your tweeter It should just work, you don't need a separate feed or need to find the loom cables ..... Fitted a pair of tweeters (Hertz - cost me €30), conected them from the speakers and fitted with hot glue under the existing lid - can't see that they're there. and the improvement in the sound is huge!
Next step, subwoofer and rear speakers! Regards Joao '10 Land Rover Defender 110 CC '08 BMW F800GS '64 SIIA Forward Control '69 SIIA 109 ZA CKD _____________________________________________ You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you. |
