I have looked into this as I bit the bullet and paid the premium for a LR sub in order to get the 'Alpine' logo the right way up. Unfortunately the cabin harness in a Defender with a factory sub is different to the harness of a Defender without a sub. In other words a part does not exist.
I paid a car hifi fitter to make me a loom and fit my factory sub into my Defender. |

By installing the genuine Land Rover alpine sub does this mean you can do away with seperate bass control unit that comes with the after market alpine unit? ie, use the alpine head unit to adjust the bass etc.

That's right Steve. Control the sub from the head unit, no other knobs or boxes. The bracket that fixes the sub to the cubby is built in too. Whilst it's twice the price, for an OEM finish, it's worth the extra money.

Shall be ordering one up then. Did the audio guys have any issues making up the loom?

It took my guy about an hour and a half to fit and make up the harness. When you place your order make sure you get the metal panel for inside the cubby and nuts that fit the screws built into the sub mounting bracket

Thank you for your info. Sounds the best route to avoid unnecessary nob and switches.
