Anyone installed a Safety Devices 'Style Bar?'
Thinking of fitting one of these or something similar, has anybody fitted one - are they difficult to fit and general thoughts please?

Without internal hoop it would only be cosmetic!

As ibexman says, the external hoop mounted to the body would be for looks only as there is no structural benefit.

On my last hard top I went for the SD cab protection cage which has the internal hoop behind the driver and then external over the front roof and screen.

I considered putting one on my wifes 90 but she wants a Massai style roof rack and it won't fit with one of those.

Yep, have a look at www.safetydevices.co.uk and go to the expedition tab.

Looks like there's 2 in the range - one looks like it's thicker and in silver only (RBL2303SSS) at £588, the other is black and is a bit cheaper (RBL1383SSS) at £545 (from Paddocks)

I guess I'll have to make some enquiries on Monday, the silver one looks better and thicker but I would have to get it powder coated black which I'd guess at an extra £50?

I have the style bar on my 90. I bought it second hand and it came off a G4 style defender, so it was a genuine LR product, although I believe they are made by Safety Devices for LR.

It was easy to fit, I decided to fit it using large rivnuts so I could bolt it in without having to get to the inside of the wings/roof with a nut and spanner.

I used stainless steel socket head bolts to mount it and coated them in Dynax wax first to help prevent bimetallic corrosion and also seal the bolts to stop water ingress.

I feel that apart from the cosmetic benefits it also adds some rigidity to the body. Well it feels as if it does.

That would be great, thanks. One question - does it limit visibility around the screen at all?
