Had to happen sooner or later..............
Thought, what a lovely day. Said to the better half lets go for a run to Leadhills for a play then go for groceries.
Great idea came the reply. Left home and 1/2 a mile down the road on comes engine management light and no throttle.....!!!! Wait a minute i thought this was supposed to be sorted out at last service. Put car in for first service in september and was informed their was a recall due to the above happening. Informed them that I have not had a single problem with landy from new and that if it needed it then so be it.
Now i am back home and just gave Landrover assisst a call and guess what.......... thats right they are sending out the AA to have a look at it for me? Shocked Asked the nice lady if the AA carried diagnostic gear for Landrover's, she said no but they will still have a look at it! So at about 14.45 there will be me, the AA man and probably some of my nosey neighbours standing about looking at my very nice Defender before he informs me it will need to be recovered back to Landrover in Motherwell..... Glad it didnt happen up in the hills or worse, in the Supermarket car park!!

Follow up......
The AA man arrived and after a while managed to get his diagnostic gear to work with my defender. Fault code "P1169 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor in range but high" registered. Checked voltage at sensor all ok and went for a test drive and engine management light went out. He was unable to fix fault or recover me to dealers as the defender is too heavy and they dont tow 4x4, but followed me there and run me home.
I have come across this fault before in the forum with no follow up as to the outcome. Could this be a faulty sensor or is it something to do with the ecu recall. I also got him to leave the fault code in so the dealer has it.
Any ideas?

Wales 2008 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 PU Santorini Black
I got a P1169 fault code a few times last year, and on each occasion about half a mile from my house and when the weather had just turned a little bit colder. Mine was fixed by the Q068 patch. Yours being newer it should have this update, but checking that it has the latest update should be the first thing that the dealers do. Peter

Cheers for the info MrFlips. will call the dealer in the morning and see what he says. Going to add Bell Auto Services Faultmate FCR to my Xmas list as if i had known what the fault was i could have just taken it in to the dealers instead of calling out LR assist!!!!

Got landy back.....
Just got the landy back from dealers. They replaced the manifold assembly including the sensor.

Parts
LR006865((P) MANIFOLD ASS) 1 £173.25

Asked them to make sure that all recalls were done and was informed that they had been done and as a footnote added that this is not the first defender to have this fault fixed under warranty. Anybody else had this done?
