Yes.
Oil will continue to drain through the main harness into the ECU for a short while, but it will only become a problem when it reaches the multiplug. Don't pay 1400 euros for a 30 euro part and an hour with a spanner and some solvent cleaner.... This is for a Disco but the oily bits are the same for the defender; http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=42788 My blog - www.anacreinhampshire.blogspot.co.uk 110 TD5 BuildHERE - sold! 110 Tdci Build HERE - sold! Passat Alltrack - 4x4, auto, 45mpg, gloriously comfortable - but not a Defender! |

This subject was comprehensively discussed very recently in this thread:-
http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic4426.html One thing to note is that the oil leaks down the insides of the conductors and it will keep doing it unless you seal the connector in the new injector harness. |

I've seen oil contamination inside the ECU box too. It might be worth opening that up to check while you're there.

Thanks for the advice and the links. I am going to change the injector harness only and not the engine harmess. Apparently there was oil in the
ecu according to the mechanic (I thought opening the ecu is not a good idea). I will let you know how it goes |

You can open de ecu, but the top is tin and glued to the base.
I changed the both the looms as I didn't have to pay for the looms. But it is some work to change them but it is not difficult. In your case I would change the injector loom and open the ecu. (if it is already broken you can't damage much) See if there is any oil in it and if so clean it. Clean the other connectors and see if it will be running fine.
