or is it just me?
from the early days (MY11 build) the car was letting in water at the rear. turns out a gasket for rear floor plate wasn't fitted during build and (stupidly?) I went along with the suggestion it would be better to seal it from the inside rather than strip the car to put the gasket back in ? anyway it all seemed ok until I recently got back to find the boot and rear foot wells well and truly soaking wet. the cars in tomorrow for a fortnight for them to resolve (I hope). but while having a quick look around under the car as I got back last night and all the way home the car ran cr*p (family and luggage) which it does on and off. sometimes sweet as a nut other times not and I wonder if I've found the problem (or is it just wishful thinking that it only runs crap while there's more than just me in the car - I think its both). damn damn damn.....how do you add a photo again? what are your thoughts.... I can only comment on the gasket missing. What you describe sounds exactly like the problem I had on my DC with the plate under the rear seats. No gasket in sight and the panel was bent in a number of places. To remove the whole panel and fix correctly would have been a very long job and would probably have caused a number of other problems as well.
I sealed mine from the inside by forcing panel sealer (not mastic or silicone) into the joints. It seems to have done the job. Bob |

unbelievable - missing gaskets ?
surely thats basic stuff that shouldn't happen - a bit like putting the suspension on with no rubber mounts ! anyway my photos are in my album but I'm struggling to pull them into this post? |

I stand to be corrected on this but you're right gasket its perhaps the best word to describe it........I believe its body panel sealant but in a tape form?
anyway what do you think of my fuel pipes !!! have a look at my photo album. |

I'm surprised the floor panel didn't squeak like mad without the gasket (due to metal rubbing on metal ). Mine did and I had to spray all around with GT7 inside and underneath to stop it. I didn't realise that its simply a sheet of metal held on with self tappers and flimsy metal clips. I presume the gasket is that grey foam that looks rather like laminate/solid wood flooring underlay and is about 2mm thick. Most surfaces where there is a layer of metal bolted to another seem to have it but it is very unevenly fitted - sticking out in some areas and missing in others. But I'm sure that the process of unscrewing the floor panel, applying the gasket and re fitting should only take your dealer about an hour or two. |

had another look at the fuel pipe and its certainly not pinched while no load in the car and therefore don't think there's a problem there.
however if you look at the other photo's there's a circa 3mm gap between the body and chassis support plate - is this a problem? my biggest problem though is trying to sort out the inconsitant running (smooth - rough)? |

don't ask ...but I had another look at this fuel pipe and although it's not pinched as such it is touching top and bottom and there's signs of wear so clearly I'm looking for a resolution before the pipe starts leaking - any thoughts?
I guess both of the pipes should sit in the recess but can't see how to adjust the position they are in at the moment as the pipes are shaped and appear only to want to be where they are now? rossy - sorry didn't respond to you - no noise just leaks, and I believe the panel at the rear is secured with dome head / closed rivets. the body shop ran some tape over the seam and painted over it. it's worked even if it's not the best solution? |

You're not alone. Mine is the same and if you go into a showroom you will see most if not all the new ones are the same

Happy New Year Wayne, I note that your picking on random things to bother about looks set to continue into 2016.
My thoughts are that if it only has minor witness marks and the wear is not so great as to be on the verge of wearing right through then as it's been like that since you last worried about it in 2011 why start worrying aout it again? I have a problem with mine running rough then smooth, I know how to stop it but S.H.M.B.O. insists that she is entitled to drive it as well. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

Good point. Happy new year Some may doubt this but i'm convinced I still have an intermittent problem with what sounds like injector knock and fortunately for everyone on here i'm determine to get to the bottom of it, even if it's normal I need to know why it's inconsistent Arc99 |
