That hitch is designed for a 50mm ball or a rotating eye between 1.1/8" and 2". A 76mm NATO lunette won't fit the jaw, and as noted it doesn't rotate.
These semi-auto couplings are designed to auto close when you reverse onto a trailer, which is a neat idea but in practice can be a pain since it is difficult to man-handle a "near-miss" into to jaw. There are no combined 50mm ball, 76mm lunette couplings available which are suitable for towing a non-rotating lunette, nobody makes one. There are some that claim to suit a rotating lunette but I wouldn't trust one as far as I could throw it. If you want to tow a NATO lunette use a genuine NATO pintle. |

That's my findings now, if I want a sankey type trailer I need a separate Nato Specific hitch and probably a drop plate with break away attachment. Think I'm getting there |

I can't believe this thread still has steam! Just buy a NATO hitch, a Dixon Bate drop hitch and a 50mm tow ball. You can tow whatever you like.

I guess other people like me are looking at the options also. I've towed thousands of mile but with a normal towbar and normal trailers / caravans Never knew there was so much choice... I've sort of sorted a Nato (swival) hitch just need to collect it  now I need the drop plate and get my spanners out

As I have the Lightweight with NATO 12 pin electrics and the Defender with 7 pin electrics I need to use my Sankey with both.
Has anybody made or is aware of an adaptor for the NATO 12 pin trailer connector to 7 pin vehicle socket. Any information gratefully received. I will have a go at building my own but just wanted to check I was re inventing something that already exists. 1995 Defender 110 CSW 1971 SIIA Lightweight |

No. nothing like that exists (at least not as a "standard" COTS item).
When I was faced with a similar requirement I simply fitted a standard 12N socket to the front of the trailer, wired it into the connector block on the trailer, and made up a lead with a 7-pin 12N type plug on each end. Then if towing with my 80" (to which I had fitted a NATO 12-pin socket) I used the original trailer lead, and with anytihing else I used the double-ended 7-pin lead and the new socket, with the original trailer lead clipped up on the trailer. |
