The Series 3 (like I understand 1s and 2s have) has the red and black separate 'pin' style accessory power outlet.
Does anyone know where I can buy connectors to fit these? I want to wire up a USB port or something similar to power small devices. I also understand these are not fused? Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

If you look up land rover military light its the best way to get something with that connector. I long term borrowed one and wired it to a potable 12v cigarette socket in a hidden portable box.
meant i could power a satnav, like you say only use it for small things though. this is the only thing i could find with the socket. admittedly thats an expensive one, but they come up on ebay aswell much cheaper. http://eshop.lmslichfieldltd.com/lamp http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/27188576660...mp;ff13=80 |

Why not just add one of these and then you can just plug your USB straight in. You can put it where you like. You could allways source a similar product from one of the forum sponsors, I'm sure Brendan(aka 4x4 Overlander) would be able to sell you one.

If anyone has a pair of calipers and could measure, that looks like a 2mm banana plug may fit.

Thanks for all the advice, people. Spot on as usual!
Uncas, very kind of you. Let me know if you come up with anything and we can come to some arrangement. No worries if not obviously! Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

The plugs were widely used in vintage days and specialist suppliers of vintage electrical automotive parts usually sell them (Paul Beck, Holden, etc)
Remember that although the sockets are colour-coded, there is nothing physically preventing incorrect insertion. There was a similar plug/socket in use on quality pre-war cars where one pin was a larger diameter than the other to prevent this. These look very similar but won't fit the LR type. |

I fitted a surface mount 12v socket on the side of the dash binnacle on mine, with the wiring piggy backing off the original twin sockets so there is no damage left if removed at a later date. However, this may not be advisable because the original twin sockets are permanently live and not fused. Pete
