Thanks, that is what I was thinking, as the body will be a two-tone I can have the rockers in one with the other colour as a highlight on the inner part of the fins etc. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Never had one, my Capri has the 205 block pinto
He has acquired a set of twin 40dcoe webbers for it so I don't think it will be a standard engine for long Speaking of carbs has anyone got the answer I posed the other day reference the SU carb inlet pipe having snapped? 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

So a long time since this has had an update due to work.
Shinny pic time: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge As the fixing of Jas took 10min I decided I can crack on with this The chassis out, I crawled all over it armed with my file and removed all the sharp pointy galv bits. I have a locker in work brimmed with various bits for this chassis: Paint - check Primer - check Copious amounts of cavity wax - yep T-wash.......T-wash?? Where has that gone?? Brilliant new order placed and should be here tomorrow so I shall hopefully have this T-washed tomorrow and primered a little later in the week. As the lack of T-wash halted the chassis plans I moved onto these take off springs I nabbed of eBay for £50 delivery miles only and gave them a coat of stone chip just to give them a nice fresh coat and hide the scratches etc. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge So hopefully this rebuild should move on a little bit over the next week or so. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

Oh the rest of it is still one main body on the old chassis etc but as the chassis is here I'm going to get a rolling chassis going and then can transfer bits across. Just need to find cash for the rest of the shopping list
I have possibly sourced a second hand bulkhead that just has some slightly rusty floor plates so a massive improvement on mine and a lot cheaper as it was going in the bin 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

Cheers shaggydog
Progress has been made, after a good eBay seller Paints4trade but a not so good currier (name withheld) I got the T-wash Click image to enlarge Now it's the waiting game till I can primer it. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

So once my T-wash was sorted and the chassis dry it was time to primer
A shuffle round of the chassis location into the hanger so I could keep it heated over night resulted in running over my toe with the engine lift ( that hurt). Still got it in and a tarp on the floor so I keep the boss happy. Click image to enlarge All started well with a good finish, I am using 1k etch primer absolutely great stuff, then I got to this stage about half done: Click image to enlarge And after constantly upping the air through the gun it eventually died, ok maybe the industrial compressor we have doesn't build air up quickly I will have a cold drink and wait a min or two, check the gauge and less than .5 of a bar...... guess it's throwing a hissy fit. So a shout out to a few mates and one had a small compressor he can loan me, bonus! So it took a little longer than I planed and short bursts due to a smaller compressor but here it is all primered and sitting in a heated workshop for the next two ish days to allow the paint to cure. Click image to enlarge Happy I have got to this stage now just waiting on the main paint a nice black top coat to do over the weekend (fingers crossed). 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |
