To be honest, I'd be changing the injector seas and washers and giving the injector harness a spray up with contact cleaner first before changing the pump. Do those first and see what the difference is.

Forgot to mention. I've changed the injector harness, no oil in the red plug either. But the previous owner did have the problem and changed the harness 2 yrs ago.
Changed the maf as the other one was faulty and cleaned the map which was spotless before had too. The egr has been removed and the hoses are all silicone. Fuel filter as been changed but never gets hot as I seem to remember the last one did when I first got the landy. I have washers and seals but have not fitted them yet as I've got no problems starting or raising oil levels which I understand are common symptoms of the washers and seals 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car) 2009 - current .... 2005 zx10r |

I didn't have any change in oil levels, not the faintest whiff of diesel from the filler cap but a noisy pump and near enough overnight mine lost all power above 2000 revs, not the best of things to happen when on a camping holiday in the middle of Wales. Nothing was obvious on the Nanocom, the pump was OK, fuel filter changed along with the injector harness. All these steps improved things slightly but didn't cure it. I changed the seals and washers and instant kharma, I was dubious but it worked.

Ive had same Symptoms recently and your answer will be to replace copper washers and o ring seals. Only use. Genuine parts
I was lucky enough to borrow proper tool to remove injectors. It makes the job very easy |

I'd be looking at the high speedcrank sensor fault, if the rocker cover gasket is leaking it can get in the sensor plug and short out.

I've just fitted some injector seals on a customers rough running TD5,
No oil level issues, just poor performance. It was on 172,000 miles, and the copper washers speak for themselves really. Instant transformation on running. For what it costs, and being a straight forward job I would highly recommend this as a good starting point. Click image to enlarge Also 3 out of 4 glow plugs were not working. The codes you have are usually thrown up, delete them, run it and read them again. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

I did the seals today. The copper washers were worn on all but one injector which was a slightly different shade.
Looks like it's had a injector swap before I got it. It's still feels and sounds like it's dropping onto 4 cylinders above 2500rpm even with the new seals etc. Not completely wasted my time as they would have needed doing soon anyway! Just need to get to the bottom of this. I have a brand new vdo fuel pump if required but I think I will have the ecu and injector codes checked next 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car) 2009 - current .... 2005 zx10r |

Have you look at your crank sensor? As there is a logged fault for it.
