Wash or towel down after walkies
Only problem with this warm wet weather is that my Golden Retriever gets covered in mud during its twice daily walk. If I hose him down my wife complains about the puddles all over the kitchen, if I put him in the outbuildings he barks non stop, if I towel him down the mud drops off all over the kitchen as the day progresses and ditto complaints. Any one come up with anything better than a hose or a towel (I guess the obvious is to stop him barking, however, he is not gun trained just the household pet)

Both my working cockers, who are pets not worked in any way shape or form, get a quick towel by the door and then a blast from a hairdryer to dry them off properly. And a quick brush if needed.

Part of the fun of having dogs I'm afraid... A quick towel down after a muddy walk works for us. If very muddy and wet they then stay in the kitchen on their mats for an hour or so before letting them lose around the house. Kitchen floor is easy to wipe compared to carpets.
The wetter the dog, the happier the dog...

Our Wheaten Terriers get dumped in a plastic Sainsbury's bucket then put in a 'doggie towelling coat' on the tiled utility floor - works well unlike towels which are rapidly jettisoned! Richard

Immediately after the walkies, my 2 Working Cockers get towelled down on the tailgate of the Disco, or in the back of the Defender. If they are really muddy, I chuck them in the river near the car for a swim first.

I have a hose pipe always ready by the back door, and keep more towels by the door in case we don't use the cars.

With dogs, there is always going to be some mess. I don't fret about muddying the back of the D4 or the Defender, it always cleans off, and I have Exmoor trim seat covers in the Defender.

A friend of our made a dog bath on his back patio. He used an old antique large deep victorian sink, and plumbed a shower head on a flexible hose into it. He keeps it half full of clean water and dunks his dog and gives it a shower each morning! 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Tell your wife to stop complaining as she should have opened her mouth before you got the dogs!
Not sure if you will be sleeping in the garden with the dogs afterwards, though... Mr. Green

Try hosing your wife down and leaving her in the outbuildings, she's unlikely to complain about the dogs after that!!! Rolling with laughter

Similar issue with mine (yellow Lab bitch). Send her in the fish pond in the garden or a shower, or hose but most importantly dry with towels when / before she comes in the house.

I'm embarrassed to say we have a "doggy shower" outside for our two cocker spaniels.

Its a fixed temperature shower (fixed mixing valve indoors, like the type used for those automatic taps you see in public loo's!) so they always have nice warm water to wash the mud off. Then its a towel dry which they absolutely LOVE.

Before this we had a hose and they would do anything to run off from the cold jet of water. Now they see it as a treat at the end of the walk Smile

Oh yes they are pets not working. How did you guess Question Idea Embarassed
