My works 130 keeps throwing up the orange warning lamp on the dash, which each time seems to be the MAF sensor. It has had a new sensor, and a new EGR valve, but has thrown up the lamp again. This is probably the 5th or 6th time it has done it over the past six months. It seems to do it when I do a decent motorway run, not when just pottering about. I'll take it back to the company workshop this week but I wonder if there is something else causing this? They say the reading from the sensor is within tolerance but higher than expected (whatever that means) and something was said about a software update but that was not actually done. The vehicle is a 2011 2.4 litre 130.

Also this morning when it first started it sounded like it was misfiring, and the idle seemed to go up and down. Probably unrelated but you never know. It was fine once I got going. 2011 110 USW

Is this a P1103 code perhaps. It is a nuisance code and one not to overly worry about. Does it automatically reset after a few driving cycles or is it constant? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Generally speaking I have had it looked at pretty quickly (usually within a day or so) and they just reset it. It usually comes on when I am doing motorway work which means I am usually near to a depot workshop.
I don't know if it will make any odds but it has done just shy of 67,000 miles. I might just leave it a couple of days and see if it rectifies itself? 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Thanks for that. As I say they have replaced the MAF sensor and the EGR valve. Lamp is still on when driving now. As it is not my vehicle a remap and/or EGR blank is out of the question. I'll see if it does sort itself later in the week and take it back in again for repairs if not... 2011 110 USW

Could it not be worth mentioning being done?
Would save in the long run... And it will fail an MOT if it starts when tested too. |

The 130 is on lease, so my employer do not even own it. It will be disposed of within the next 12 months at the most (I'm supposedly getting an Isuzu to replace it! ) so I think it is highly unlikely I'd get anywhere with that idea. So far I have been told to try and ignore it... 2011 110 USW

All the intake pipes in good nick?
Friends 2.2 gave a false MAF diagnosis when one of his IC pipes split (again). |

Had it in the workshop today, lad comes out with a sort of laptop thing and plugged it in. Gave fault code as p1103. Checked over everything and no obvious fault found. Fault was cleared off, tech seemed to think it might be the wiring unit going to the sensor. I mentioned an EGR blank and he just laughed, "No way" that will be happening. 2011 110 USW

Thanks for that.
Now, I have noticed something else about this. I had the fault cleared on Friday and had a steady drive home, mainly at 60-65 with odd short bursts at 70. The truck is limited to 70. Sometimes (such as downhill) it will overrride by a couple of mph and then drop itself down to 70 automatically. The warning lamp only comes on after sustained driving on the limiter. It came on tonight on the way home. Could it somehow be connected to the limiter? Ie, the system knows how much air is supposed to flow at 70, but it registers a fault when overriding at 72? I have noticed in the past when I am just doing local work (so therefore lower speeds) the lamp does not come on, it only happens once I hit a motorway.
