Gearbox woes
One for the armchair mechanics to peruse whilst letting their dinner go down on a Sunday afternoon.
My 2002 Td5 110 is starting to give me grief, I have lost synchromesh from 3rd into 2nd and now need to double declutch if 2nd is needed. I have also had it "lock" the gearbox much like putting an automatic into park when going from reverse to first, a little rock on the clutch or a roll if there is enough slope and it will release. There's no problems in any other gear.
In my mind this is pointing to the selector for second is loose allowing it to float around and causing the problem.
We all have a Nemesis, and gears and their trickery is mine!

I had another "lock up" of the gearbox tonight, I had reversed, stopped and when I went to take it out of reverse and take it out of reverse there was resistance from the gear lever so I eased the clutch up gently the gearbox had "locked". It did come out but I heard the sound of gears spinning as if trying to mesh. Clutch back in and normal drive was resumed.
