Reverse light/cam dead?
Hey all!

I spliced the wiring for the reverse light 2 weeks ago and added the wiring for my new reverse camera and signal transmitter.

Idea being that when reverse is engaged it will power up cam and transmitter.

It worked perfectly Very Happy For about 2 days Crying or Very sad

Now the reverse light won't even come on, let alone cam etc.

My only guess is that the extra power requirements may have blown the fuse?

So my questions are

1. Is this the best bet, too much power blowing fuse?

2. Where is the fuse for the reverse light?

3. What amp fuse should be in there as standard and what should I replace it with?

Thanks Thumbs Up

I don't know where the fuses are for a Puma but a look in the manual will guide you, if you haven't got a manual then a google search will help.
Before I would go looking at fuses I would be having a look at the join you made to join into the reverse light circuit and double check all is good. If you joined near the switch on the gearbox then double check it's all connected.

What current draw or power rating does the camera have? This should naturally have been taken into consideration before powering it up.

Reverse light is fuse 14 rated at 10 amps Central Junction Box P101 as marked on the diagrams. Without the above information we could speculate all day what the replacement should be upgraded to if it has in fact ruptured. For information the reversing light shares its earth with the left hand tail light (and the number plate light on some models) for diagnostic purposes.

Also depends if the reverse is LED or not.
If it is then there is more spare current capacity compared to a regular incandescent bulb fixture.
Typically refers cams are under 1A normally but none the less not something to take for granted.

I also agree with the above if the likely hood of it being a loose connection or earth or both.

Personaly I would of used the Rev light as a trigger for a relay to be on the same side then you could add extra rev lights at a later date Cool

The rear lights are indeed LED lights.

I didn't do it near the gearbox, I removed light cluster and spliced into wire here.

I'm pretty sure the connections are good, used crimp connectors and checked them last night.

Rear left taillight and number plate light still work fine

Confused
