I've changed it a few times just filling it up but it certainly doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling.

I don't have a bleed tool and haven't yet needed one. On other vehicles without a lift pump (or when the manual actuator for the lift pump has packed up) I've put a rag over the fuel filler and blown compressed air in. Ideally you need two people, one to loosen a bleed nipple at the engine end and tell you when diesel is dribbling on the floor. The air supply on a Fendt is worth its weight in gold when you can't get the beet cleaner started Rolling with laughter

Hi, does anyone know what the little metal wire going from the top of the housing to the inside of the cap is? im thinking an earth maybe! the reason i ask is that mine sticks out alot on the inside where the filter goes and was worried it might interfere with how it works.
