2.2 TDCi Oil Change Instructions
Good morning All,

I done a search for this and can't seem to find the answer, so apologies if it has been covered before.

From memory the service interval for a 2.2 TDCi is every 12,000 miles? But from reading this forum avidly it sounds like more regular oil changes are highly recommended?

Whilst I plan to have the main service carried out by a local LR specialist, I feel the interim oil change is something I ought to do myself! I just wonder if someone can point me the direction of a basic set of instructions, hopefully including a full 'shopping list' of items required?

Thank you in advance, you've not let me down before and I fully expect the answer is on here somewhere.

James

It is basically the same as the 2.4:

EXCEPT

From chassis number DA444247 the filter changed to a "normal" spin-on metal canister type instead of an element in the plastic cup.

The spin-on filter is currently a Land Rover or Ford only item. LR part number LR058104, Ford 1812551 (identical filter).

AND

You must use the correct C1 spec oil: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic34176.html?highlight=2+2+oil  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

On my 2015 90xs I changed mine at around 7000 miles. I purchased a new filter and drain plug from my local LR dealer. Oil supplied by Opie specifically for the 2.2 engine. Millers C1 if I recall. I intend to change it every 6000 with the LR service on top during warranty. Maybe an overkill but I don't like 120000 intervals even though LR state it. Thumbs Up 2015 90 XS Santorini Black

Does anyone know if the oil service indicator is actually triggered by monitoring oil condition (or is it other usage parameters)?

I'd like to slot extra changes in but always worry that the light will be on soon after I do!
