Land Rover has an option of 'LED Rear Lamps' listed on their website for the new defender. Interestingly there is no part number next to it. Anyone any ideas if this is an option? Anyone got them fitted?

That's the one. Thanks. No I have my Puma I will most likely get the LED DRLs. In my Green 300tdi I used dips especially in the country, perfect colour for hiding in shadows or against hedges. cheers BM52 |

I've seen those as well but I was interested in what the OEM ones are like. I didn't realised Land Rover did them.

I agree, however, are the mobile centre ones type approved? The land rover ones (not made by land rover) will not cause any problems at MOT time. The land rover ones are expensive but they are waterproof. However the indicators are not LEDs normal bulbs, but then there is no problem with towing trailers or having to get a special indicator relay. |

side lights should only be used for parking (my opinion anyway) I have a DRL unit fitted to mine, as soon as you switch the ignition on, it switches the main beam (reduced to 70%) on
Click image to enlarge All vehicles should have them fitted. They have been using them in Canada since the early 80's Also fitted the genuine rear led brake and indicators on the rear Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

nick, i'm an advocate (spell) for running with daytime lights.
i'm sure it's saved the bacon of a few motorcyclists on crazy overtakes... i'm interested about the DRL unit you fitted more info, prices, fitting, wiring etc. would be grand... btw...i've cracked your registration code |

its amazing how much a vehicle with proper DRL's stands out.
I'll take pictures tomorrow / over the weekend. I got the unit shipped from Canada, simple wiring once the right wires on the vehicle had been found. it comes with an option, that when you have the normal headlights on and switch the ignition of first, the switch of the lights, they stay on for 15 seconds enabling you to reach front door of house etc. |
