High idle on start up.
Hi... I started my defender td5 up yesterday, after not using it for a week... And it started idling quite high... I would guess around 2000 rpm. After a short while and a few revs with the pedal, it settled down to normal. Can anyone suggest what may have caused this ?

Regards,
Chris

This happens to mine, as it sits usually all week as its a weekend/snow car. Often in the cold weather it'll idle high for a while. Then after 2 mins its ticking over normally. I think it might be a cold start procedure when the temperature is quite low. Mine has done this for years, nothing bad to report Thumbs Up 2001 Td5 CSW (weekend and snow mobile) Plenty of lights, M/T tyres EGR delete, roofrack, swing away wheel carrier, snorkel.
