This is the one I have fitted - a picture is worth a thousand words ! As you can see, there is no backplate to worry about. Bob |

gotcha. see for me, i dont want the arms because i dont want to bend the chassis but I appreciate we all want different things for different reasons. Brendan, no that's cool, no need for you to go crawling around on a wet floor, thanks though. |

Its the tow bar type approval - vehicles past 1998 must have a tow bar that is type approved with an e number - the device must have its e number certificate visible or its type approval is deemed not valid (hence why i had to remove waxoyl off mine. You find alot of these bits of kit arent type approved due to the cost. have a look here http://www.caravanninglinks.com/goto/page/...explained/ a quick search will probably show you much much more obviously vehicle extration is no problem as it only applies to the car/trailer towing. Oh and it will invalidate your towing insurance should you have it and an accident. There is some discussion over the lcv - which the defender could now be (although there is a second can of worms previously discussed here!!) if you count it as one for towing, you need to count it the same and not exceed the 50mph speed limit! I will add that as I caravan and tow a 26ft twin axle in the fine print of my caravan insurance from the caravan club it states that: Tow bar fitted to towcar needs to be type approved.....
