Puma handbrake clicks. (Detail)
I know there are a couple of threads on here regarding people mentioning 3 clicks on the handbrake.

However, what is the actual spec it should be at? I've always thought it was 3 clicks myself too but wondered if anyone knew what it officially should be?
Mines at 4 clicks currently at the moment.
MOT coming up in a couple of weeks so it wondering if I should adjust it slightly or leave it alone.
It feels fine but is very slightly more slack than it used to be.

Above quote is from the WSM for the 2.4 Puma.

Adjustment procedure is as follows (same source):

Puma WSM wrote:

1. Raise one rear wheel clear of ground and support on axle stand.
2. Release parking brake lever.
3. Tighten brake adjuster to 25 Nm (18 lbf.ft) to fully exapnd shoes to drum.
4. Back off adjuster 1.1/2 turns, check that drum is free to rotate.
5. CAUTION: Cable adjustment must ONLY be used for initial setting and to compensate for cable stretch. It MUST NOT be used to take up brake shoe wear, which MUST be adjusted at brake drum.
Check operation of parking brake lever to give pawl 2 notches free movement on ratchet before being fully operational on third notch of ratchet. Adjust parking brake accordingly if lever travel exceeds the above tolerance.
6. remove axle stand and wheel chock.

That being said, I tend to run mine at 5 clicks to avoid the grabbing/banging that can otherwise occur.

Hi BW,

Yes, that's the thing as to why I think I'll leave it alone.
If I know Landy's the more you fiddle unessisarily the more likely you'll cause a bigger issue than when it started.

It's parked at home on level ground which is good and helps though, annoying for others that maybe have no other choice though.

I thought I posted this last night but obviously not!

Mine sometimes holds at 3 clicks, sometimes 4. If you do it 3 it can then roll a bit until it gets to a bit where it holds.
