Mine used to be 3 clicks would sometimes hold it, 4 clicks would always hold it. If you did it 3 clicks when it needed 4 then it would roll for a bit until the brake caught (I guess it's not round). I think I've now stretched something and it's pretty much always 4, so that's what I do.
Our TD5 is millions of clicks. |

There are plenty of clicks on the ratchet, it won't fail the mot on travel, just on its effectiveness 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

It's certainly 100% effective so all good.
I always put the slight movement when applied on uneven ground down to small drivetrain slack. One of those things in my opinion they all do. It's easy if your not careful to apply it before you've completely lost all momentum and then not only does it add more strain but put a lot more stress on the drivetrain also. I always try to take my time with in reason before applying it especially on a slope. I.e. Ease off the footbrake while the handbrake take the strain gently. |
