Martin,
You should not have to wait at all. If they break the windscreen during the repair process it is up to them to ensure your vehicle is returned to you in good working order. It is a paint warranty issue as long as the paint is not broken and cannot be attributed to a stone chip or other abrasional damage. Leave it and the paint flakes you may lose ground from an advantage perspective. Fortunately for me my windscreen was broken anyway and it was Autoglass that carried out the cleaning, sealing and refitting of a new one and stated it is a known corrosion hotspot. I did suffer a subsequent leak that meant the windscreen had to come out again but they managed it ok without incident. I have sent you a 'pm.' If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

They all do that Sir, consider it part of the charm of Defender ownership. Look upon it as a way of ensuring that you keep an appropriate amount of attention on your vehicle at all times.
Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

When you do have it done, make sure it is a condition that you inspect the area, the rear of the engine bay and behind the dash for any residue, sanding dust, debris, etc.... otherwise you may soon after have seized wiper mechanisms which means a dash out job again which then drops all the sanding over the electrics and carpet.
Don't just leave it with the dealer to sort out. Make sure you can inspect the work in progress before they start fitting it all back together. I know its hassle, but it saves many trips later going back and forth. |

I had this problem a couple of years ago on several panels of 2 year old Aston Martin DB9. A known fault with certain year cars – Aston tries to get out of warranty claims ‘on small print’. They eventually paid up then I sold the car.
I would also sell my Defender if it had the problem because I would be forever looking for it re occurring. It seems some Defenders get it, others don’t. None of mine has yet (touch wood) |
