Easier to fit a Gwyn Lewis set up - available on our website or from GL direct

Personally I would not drill and fit standard stuff, I'd fit the Gwyn Lewis kit.

I would be wandering why there were no holes for the rivnuts- to me it sounds like it may have had an outrigger replaced at some point.
If you want to stay standard then yes, drill holes, paint the edges and then insert riv-nuts Alternatively the Gwyn Lewis ones seem to be popular Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

I really like the look of the GL ones, especially as they are easier to fit, but want to stay standard. I don't think the outriggers have been replaced, do you SD? I just assumed they came out of the factory without and were dealer fitted. Waxoiling is on the list!

Interesting!
Mine were pre-drilled but no Rivnuts so I assumed they were all like that. Yours look original though, just give them a bit of a scrub up and spray with some ACF-50 to try and keep the corrosion at bay. Thanks, I'm very pleased that you think mine look original which is pretty good I reckon after 22 years and all the stuff you hear about Defenders - and though I suspect mine has not been abused, it certainly has not been cherished by its 3 previous owners

Looks in good nick
Don't worry, mine was stood on axle stands and used as a shed for storing leaflets for a year by its previous owner It was also stored mostly in a yard when not "out and about" and main dealer serviced all its life so bit of plus, bit of negative. Rest of the chassis look as good as that? How about the bulkhead? Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

SD
Sorry for the very slow reply! Chassis all good apart from a little bit where the chassis rails meet the rear crossmember (original) which has been patched badly. Bulkhead shows no signs of corrosion. Any chance you could send me a pic of your outriggers so I know where to drill the holes Cheers |
