Hi Guys,
Going on recommendation from Turner Engineering I have been advised to do oil changes every 3000 miles for a few oil changes while everything beds in plus I suspect my piston rings are a bit gummed up so this should help. For me every 3000 miles is about 2months-ish so this is going to be very expensive if I uses halfords.. So, where do you guys buy 20/25l drums of 10w40 semi synthetic from? What is considered a "good price" if there is such a thing? Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

I have a Halfords Trade Card so that is usually my first port of call.
In larger quantities I would consider approaching Oilman one of the site sponsors at Opie to see what he could do? http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40310.html?highlight=opie http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-2354-lookup-re...ilter=1991 If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Thanks guys.
Found Opie oils will do 20l of Castrol Magnatec 10W40 for £105 or I can go for 20L Fuchs Titan for £75. I don't imagine that there would be a world of difference between the 2 would there so I'm probably going to go for the Fuchs Thanks Guys Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

Makes economic sense to go for a cheaper oil if you are going to drain it every 3000 miles, the oil is hardly going to lose its lubricity in that millage. Just out of interest several years ago I replaced a head with a reconditioned head from Turners and I was advised to add Fortes engine flush to the oil before the first drain and to run the engine with the flush in the oil for about ten miles then drain. http://www.forteuk.co.uk/product-detail/36...otor-Flush For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

for those that frequent Costco can you recall which Mobil 1 oils they sell and cost.
I'm thinking the Mobil 1 is better for less? |
