Engine Replacement
I have a 96 Defender 90 300 Tdi. With 174k on the clock . I'm wanting to change engine for something quiter and better torque, and more power. Any ideas

You've probably got the best engine already. Why not have it reconditioned and perhaps better turbo etc done to it.

Will be more cost effective than changing the engine.

The 2.8 tgv is another option too.

Locate a 2.8 and stick a hybrid turbo on it, more power with all the benefits of the 300tdi, as it's still a 300tdi and none of the draw backs of a modern engine... Electircs
