Brake light bulb on VW Golf Mk5
Have perused the VW forums - loads with this issue but no solutions

The rear right brake light bulbs keeps blowing and the car computer lets me know.

Sometimes its not the bulb though as after a while ( a couple of days) the "bulb not working" sign goes off and the brake light works again

I have checked with a meter and the bulb is getting 13.8v when brake pedal is pressed
I am using Bosch bulbs ( Made in Russia) from Halfords (with the recommended wattage 21W, 12v)

There are other bulbs in the same cluster that work fine and never blow out.

Any ideas?

Switch to LED's Thumbs Up

Much more tolerant to changes in voltage and vibrations etc

Just make sure you get the CANBUS compliant bulbs Thumbs Up

How do you check for bad earth? At what part of the circuit?
