Viscous fan bearing ?
Hi all,
Went to look at a friends truck today that was making a "strange " noise, it's a 2008 2.4 90

It turns out quite quickly that the viscous fan had quite a bit of play in it, but the play seems in the pulley area of the unit not in the fan it's self ( if that makes sense ? )
So I'm guess there is a bearing that sits on the front of the engine there ?
If so , is it a drama to change please ? I'll pop a new aux belt on whilst it's off also

Thanks in advance

It seems the fan pulley bearing is only available as part of the bracket and bearing assembly PQS500620

Be aware the fan is a left hand thread onto the pulley and usually is very tight (still not managed to get mine off yet)

The fan bracket is held on by 3, 14mm bolts that bolt through the timing chain cover.
You can undo these without taking the fan off (just!)

Photo is not much of a help, but they are fixed just under the block where the top hose enters the block.

Easy to Change though, once you've got all the other stuff out the way! 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

No, don't worry!
The photo was just to give you an idea of where the fan bolts to.
This was in for timing chain replacement.

Look where the top hose goes into the block, (centre top)

The holes underneath are where the fan bolts to, through the chain cover. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"
