If you are asking for comments: 1. Are you sure you don't want a/c with a large tin box and plenty of glass. I only have a double cab but the ac can be a real benefit on longer drives at higher speeds where it's not practical to have the windows open? 2. Do you really want the folding side steps? I think they are a pain in the backside, will rust up/get jammed with road dirt, are difficult to use and eventually you will take them off and either leave plain or fit the longer steps or a rock/tree slider? 3. Have you got electrics ordered with the tow bar? |

I completely agree with Supacat's first 2 points. A/C is a definite yes, and folding side steps are completely pointless and impractical! An engine to TDi for!

AC is a must in my book and I agree with the previous comments. It'll be as hot as hell on a summers day. Also it helps considerably in demisting especially if you find you have inadvertantly opted for the unexpected free-gratis extra of the obligatory leak or two.

I wouldn't have bothered with either air conditioning or side steps - two less components to fail/go wrong. I just open the window - sort of old fashioned and simple to do. Nice choice of colour - you don't say if you are having a white roof to complement the white HD rims?

Definitely a white roof for the classic look. This, together with white wheels were not in question!
Prefer the folding side steps to the alternatives, as they are part of the traditional LR character. Jury still out on AC. Electrics ordered with the towbar. I really appreciate the feedback - keep it coming! Ray |

I put on a set of fold up steps on mine and prefer them to the bar type. Just give them a good clean up and oil up with acf50 or similar to keep them looking good.
As you say they look much more old school and in keeping with an early defender - mainly because many didn't have them until I believe Td5? If I could add AC sensibly I would so as it is a factory option go for it now as putting it in later is prohibitively expensive. Plus if you do decide to sell it on later it will add to its value. Just another thought - you have spec'd front flaps but don't mention rear ones?
If you are paying extra, I'd save that money and invest in some decent aftermarket ones - like these: http://www.gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product-category/mudshields/ Not only will they do a better job, stay on longer but they'll probably be cheaper! What tyres have you spec'd on the HD wheels? Oh and the sunroof will be seen by many as a water ingress issue further down the track. Defender leak enough fro new without cutting extra holes in them  |

Haha, I love the comments on water ingress, they are so reassuring to Defender newcomers
But I think we know what we are getting into, it's just a good reality check.
Btw, sounds like a very good looking truck. It's just going to be so bloody hard to wait for it!!! I ordered mine in Feb and it should come now, end of May, was such a painful wait. Anyways, good luck and welcome in the club - it feels so nice to join these chaps on here who have owned this iconic vehicle for some time. |

Shaggydog: Definitely prefer the fold up steps, and keeping them clean and protected should see them last well. Never used acf50, but heard that it's good stuff. Will be thoroughly treating the chassis and underside with Dinitrol as well, and all the nooks & crannies.
Supacat: Rear flaps come as standard. Tyres are Goodyear MT/R, which look great, but might be a bit noisy on the road. As you say, CarMan, I will enjoy thinking about it before it arrives! Time flies when you don't want it to, and drags when you do! Does anyone know if the original type aluminium Land-Rover badges are available for the station wagon? I have seen them for the utility I think, but that's all. Will also be looking to fit a traditional style grille, etc. Thanks again for all the thoughts. Ray |

Look forward to pictures when you get it Keswick is definitely my favourite colour by a long way.
With regard to your options they sound perfect to me. cloth seats and convenience pack ideal. cold climate pack a must in my books Id also go for the colour coded arches and heavy duty steels Other than that though i'd put the other bits on myself. Personally I wouldnt bother with a sunroof as not a fan when they leak Ive had aircon in a few of my Defenders and never used it in any of them, Put one of your electric windows down instead it does a nicer job
You can get the badges custom made for not much money and the bloke will put anything on them, look up artmin design 
The classic headlight surrounds look great in that colour to that you can get from leeds on here. I had them on my Keswick soft top and was really pleased If you havent read them theres a couple of threads on classic style keswick defenders. Steve R did a lovely job on his 110 usw and I had a lot of old style bits on the soft top. |
