 1999 Defender 110 Td5 SW Santorini Black
My TD5
Hi

Been lurking around for a while but not really posted so thought I might introduce myself a little. I work for JLR in a corporate role and also do a side business with some friends in Hong Kong on Land Rover parts. So I can get stuff for my defender really cheap and I get TOPIX and Mircocat for free....

Anyway, this is my TD5 defender which I bought last xmas time. It was in good mechanical condition and the chassis was pretty good, so I bought it. Paint work is a bit tired so I did a respray myself into satin black, I did it in satin mainly because all the little dents show up really apparent in gloss colours whereas in satin it looks really straight...

Not really done much to it other than some costmetic and interior bits:
Trucklite LEDs
Perei LED rear lamps
Corbeau seats
LOADs of soundproofing
Waxoil'ed by nene overland
Central looking

Just after my respray

Thanks, got a set of Blindo wheels coming this week and some BFG TA KO2 as well.. So hopefully have them on next week.

We actually do everything, genuine/pattern/upgrade just because it's quite hard to get stuff in Hong Kong without breaking the bank with the main dealers and it's hard for people to privately import/ship large parts. I basically talk to suppliers in the UK for them and sort out logistics... Quite happy to do group stuff tbh but don't think I am allowed to say anything on that unless I donate as a advertiser (speaking of which, I need to investigate that actually..).. Wink

On another note, if there's anything wrong that LR customer service or dealers have done wrong, I can certainly help to escalate for people...

Glad you liked it.

The HDR effect's pretty cool. I did want to try taking some HDR shots at some point. I took that picture near a Radar station on Glee hills in Shropshire and there was a interesting "crater" shaped thing which was quite dramatic looking but the lighting in combination with the black just didn't work well. With hindsight, HDR would have solved that issue..

Think I should try out HDR at some point when I get the new wheels on.

Looking good! My 110HT is done in Matt black but I'm considering changing to satin as the Matt finish looks kind of grey in no time at all..

I thought about matt black as well but apparently a pain to clean? I thought Satin was supposed to be better but found that it's still harder to clean... particularly bird droppings...

Good to see another 5-pot LWB, nice job with the paintwork - it's not a style I'd think of for a Landy but you've made a nice effect there. 2005 110 XS - Cairns Blue "Bertha" - Gone, and sorely missed

Thanks, I was originally split between this black, a kind of lotus green with contrast black roof and that heritagr green they used on the heritage edition but thought satin was easier to spray and look after.... how wrong was I... it turns out because you couldn't polish satin finish, what you spray is what you have and I need to use matt specific car wash etc. Which was a bit of a faff. Did manage to get a really good finish with just a cheap spray gun so it kinda worked out in the end.

I'm no expert in photo editing - this was just done using Snapseed on my iPad. Glad you like the end result. Like you I think that HDR can be useful, but I'm not keen on those shots that are overly processed. That area looks cool for a bit of Defender fun!
