2003 Defender 90 Td5 XS CSW Bonatti Grey

Extending breathers. Possible problem?

I wish to extend my breathers and have a connector for the engine bay with 5 (3 in line and 1 each end) push fit connectors, I presume it was for the 3 in the engine bay and an extra for a 200/300tdi engine for the belt and the last to go up the snorkel. My thoughts are to utilise the spare one and extend the back axle and the fuel tank, one would be connected by a splitter then bring into engine bay and would only require a single tube up the snorkel. A thought has ocured that I may be causing a problem by joining the fuel tank and rear axle together and if I should go into water and the axles are hot that this would suck air in as expected but would I be introducing diesel fumes into the system and could it cause any problems (hope this makes sense). personally I would keep the fuel tank on its own

as you say being at a extreme angle , cold water etc etc

Thanks for that. for the sake of an extra pice of tubing it makes sense to keep them apart, after all it is only 2 pipes up the snorkel. Regards
