If you think that the hub might be tight, take the vehicle on a run (if possible one which does not involve significant braking0 and check the temperature of the hub or wheel centre afterwards. Whilst comfortable warmth is OK, it should not be hot, and there should be no difference between the temperature of the opposite wheels of the same axle.

if the hub bearings are tight, it is likely that the hub will be hot, in which case you need to adjust it.

Be careful with this test since if it is running hot it can be injuriously hot! It shouldn't be, of course, but be careful when you stick your hand on it just in case!
