Another little add on arrived today so I offered it up to check the fit. Will fix down over the weekend with black head rivets.

Didn't want an entire bonnet cover but this will protect the paint on shoot days when people seem to decide a Defenders bonnet is an ideal place to rest things Big Cry

OK, it's easier to put it here I guess. I didn't want to apear like I was pushing one person's product.

I messaged a few ebay suppliers who only seemed to supply the entire bonnet kit, saying I just wanted the centre bulge part. I had one sent which was no good, they had shaped it back to front, covering the rear slope, not the front, this one is only the 2mm type but I'm ok with that, even though my wing tops are 3mm.

It did not come with any fixings, but I had some black rivets, they are available on ebay too. I has 14 holes drilled in it.

This is the one I bought, he put up a special listing for my request.

Top notch Thumbs Up Black roof next? Mr. Green

I have thought about this. I have one more significant exterior change to make and that will determine if the roof goes black or not. I want to keep the right balance of grey and black together, rather than one more than the other you see.

Hopefully this decision will be made fairly soon. 2016 D4 HSE

So, took the Defender out for a spin last night - what's the big news about this you might ask?

Well, it's the first time I've driven in at night!

I wanted to test the LED headlights to see what they are like and I'm impressed, they throw out a bit of an odd pattern with the halo aswell, but they are nice and bright and on a straight country lane the full beam is nice and central and strong, so much better than standard or the Crystal headlights.

Also, another 'cool' feature of the LED headlamps is when you flash your lights, they are so instant and bright.

Have used the Defender a few times over the last few days driving round the villages and it gets lots of admiring looks, I even got my first 'Landy Wave' from a girl in a souped up Defender, looked like a TD5 with a custom paint job in a pearlescent purple, she was quite young but the tradition of the wave was there, brilliant Very Happy 2016 D4 HSE

Almost a scientific approach Wink I'll try to give it a guess again - black roof rack? Considering your windows are tinted already (if I saw correctly), curious what the next change is before the roof verdict.

Well, I had the opportunity to work on the paintwork today, so I washed, clayed and did my Meguiars 3 stage paint process of Compound, Polish and Wax.

It looked good to start with but now I have the peace of mind knowing it's to my standard and ready for winter.

A few pics.

A very nice pair, but I guess a roof rack is out of the question due to clearance of the garage? Why do they make garages with such low roof clearance & car parks for that matter?

I can't get either of them in the garage as the dimensions are too small on height. At my last house I had a perfect set up of a workshop (double garage size) and then a 3 car open garage with spaces designed for a discovery. Loads of clearance. It was excellent. I miss it Big Cry 2016 D4 HSE
