I have a Clarke jump start 1010 with built in air compressor and it has never let me down.

I've been looking at the very small lithium ion power packs, the likes of .....
http://www.britpart.com/all-parts/da1238/ they can supposedly jump start a diesel Land Rover. However I'm very sceptical, if they do work they might be ideal as they have usb outputs as well as being small enough to fit in the cubby box. Anybody got one? I looked at those too but just cannot get my head round being able to crank a decent sized engine with it.. or perhaps several times over too!
Cheers guys, the Clarke 1010 says up to 3000cc so might see if there is a meatier one in the range. |

Sealey do some lithium jump packs , ok they much more expensive, but at least they have descent size cable that could carry the amps needed
i dont get how with the cheap ones they can quote it can give 300a ( or whatever is quoted ) and then use a cable with a marked rating of 50a , something doesnt add up right |

For the life of me I cant remember correct figures, but the amp rating for 8 AWG is around 40-50 amps (@ 90*). That's however for a 100% Duty cycle. Reduce that duty cycle and it can shift a much much higher amperage without bursting into flames.

Yes know that , might be ok as long as it starts instantly, but least the sealey has proper cables
all the jump packs seem to get a bit carried away with amp rating , i tested a snap on one years ago that was rated something 800a , most i could get over a few seconds was about 250a using shunt on multimeter |

Machine Mart sell two good ones. Links are:
https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product...start-1224 ![]() and https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product...start-4000 I have the 12/24 model and use it regularly to start Tractors and it even helped the start of a Caterpillar that had been stood for 4 years outside. If you don't need the 24volt option then I would go for the 4000. |

The Clarke 1010 also has an onboard 12volt cigarette socket outlet which I also find useful for charging mobile phones etc.

I have had 3 of the Clarke ones and they have all been good. The first one used to jump start my 2,25D no problem.
Bear in mind however that even the big HD Clarke ones (one of which I have now) only have a large motorbike battery in them. Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |
