Sorry but I can't see why the club stands should be charged for their pitches. If it were not for the clubs, the whole show would be pointless anyway! They are hardly there to make a profit, maybe they hope to sign up some new members, but thats about all. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

I am not bothering. I have really given up on the shows now as they all seem to be very similar and also very poor in terms of 'show'.

In my view there should be a show and not just a collection of trade stands and some clubs.

When I was into VW's I used to attend all the shows and they were fantastic weekends. Everything from really serious restoration shows where people bring their amazing labours of love to show off and display through to what were more like VW themed music festivals like Bug Jam at Santa Pod raceway.

There was something for everyone and it felt like you were attending a show with entertainment and activities at the core of the show and then the traders were a 'side show' and not the main event.

One of the best things I used to enjoy at the VW shows was the 'education' you could get. They would have talks and demonstrations from well respected people in the trade and talented enthusiats about everything from engine rebuilding to interior trimming to how to wire up a set of spots etc. They were really good and well attended.

The shopws could be so much more but they seemed to have lapsed into the same old format for every show and its not good.

Anyways rant over Smile

We will be camping in the farmers field as usual, for us it's more of a get together of like minded people, my daughters always love going to Billing, and now they even bring some of their friends with them Laughing they all love watching the mud run and splash Very Happy

Well were going again this year Thumbs Up
Very disappointed to here the negative comments and non attending , however I'm not to fussy about what is for sale and who won't be giving me the opportunity to buy there products , its more about the atmosphere and good conversation with fellow landy owners for me
Very Happy Very Happy

I'm going, never missed one since the very beginning so it is more than habit than anything else but still always enjoy it.
Used to make it a week long visit but now it is just for a day or two. ONE LIFE, GET IT!

i dont know cos ive never been

but what is the reason that known traders are not attending, is it something political?

when FCx says it will be the demise of the show, but arent supporting it ?

I work in an industry where I go to pretty much all the shows I can, as otherwise without support they will be no longer

(its not a dig at fcx - in fact I wanted to go see their work in person cos I need a few things) and cant make peterborough

I thikn im going to go down anyway, was just thinking outloud

Not political for us.

We are really upset not to be going.

It's unfortunate timing on our part, we are building a new 2500sqft showroom and workshop and this is the week the steel work arrives.

If I could have been there I would have done, Billing is my favourite show, I personally think it has a lot more soul than Peterborough and of course a much longer Land Rover association

We've always done well at the shows and normally cover our costs but unlike many of traders, although you may not believe it, I'm a true Land Rover enthusiast and I go for the camaraderie not just to make money.

I shall be there on my local group's pitch - Bedworth Berts 4x4 Club - so by all means drop in to say hello. A cold one or a cuppa awaits ... it's what we do! Wink
