I realised today that one of my Border Collies, Mist, is getting old, he’s nearly thirteen, and lately he has struggled to jump into the back of the Defender, bit sad really, as he stands behind the Defender looks at me as if to say I can do it, then tries to jump in, on the last few occasions when he has tried to jump into the back he has ended up smashing his rib cage or belly against the top of the rear cross member which must hurt the little fellow, trouble is he follows my younger border, Loki (he is the one in the avatar) who leaps into the back without a care
So I thought it is time to get Mist a ramp that I can pull out of the back of the Land Rover so he can get in and out of the back without injury. Somewhere, it might have been on this forum, I have seen a photograph of just the thing I am looking for, which was a ramp made of steel or aluminium, which was hinged in the middle, any ideas? Or can anyone suggest a good alternative or idea that I can make; bearing in mind I do not possess that many tools for working in wood or metal. Put in dog ramp in ebay and a fair few results come up. Iif not a marina boarding ramp is the same thing for humans. Ive seen a plywood one on here before which would be easy to make even if your not that practical

I have a trifold ramp for my 110 for my 13+year old lab. She used to be able to jump up through the lower drop side panel on a 101, now she just gets a lift from me.......Why?
Well the ramp is a pain to get out and is steep, but more importantly its surface is just grip tape. This is useless for a dog to grip on in order to get up the ramp. Some deep pile carpet would help, but I enjoy picking her up as she is still my puppy dog !! ![]() |

Maybee a silly question.
![]() Could you not just lift him in? My Boarder jumps in no problem, but my Patterdale who is now 12 struggles,so I just pick him up. Marc |

We use a product called PetStep daily, they can be found on ebay sometimes on Amazon, its light folds up, fits nicely between the wheel arches. Have put a false floor across the arches, so also stick the various security devices under the floor when not need, as well as the ramp. Our big fella is about 14 stone and it copes with him easily, some dogs dont take to them straight away, so would recommend, laying the step flat get the dog used to walking up and down it before gradually increasing the gradient.

Just an update I finally went for one of these ramps from Easy Animal, brilliant piece of kit and a brilliant web site full of things for dogs you do not usually find on the high street, well not on my high street anyway!
Has taken a few weeks to get my dog used to it, but now he loves it ![]() http://www.easyanimal.co.uk/deluxe-telesco...Xh2NVKFqpo ![]() Click image to enlarge For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

Are the dimensions quoted correct - might be my eyes but this looks wider than 43cm:
![]() It also takes some weight - almost has a double use as a bridging ladder! ![]() |
