Okay, what's the best way to mangle this control on a new stiff Defender. It's on High and I can't get it into neutral or low. I've tried the two methods in the handbook. It's only three days old and I need to show the beast who's the boss. Maybe I need a trainer?

I wont disagree - but they dont actually fill the cars. They stick a load of pipes onthe parts and scan the barcode and hit fill - the computers do the rest quite impressive to see - especially the range rovers with the standard rig Mike |

Sure those computers get corrupted by viruses as my gearbox had an excess of 2 liters Puma 110" SW

Probably pressed fill twice, and the rest overflowed. You want to see the number of batteries left connected from Friday to monday that are thrown! Mike |

Personally I found the high/low change and diff. lock levers easier to use on our current Puma than on any other Land Rover I have driven. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

the trick is to always have the main gearbox in a gear when you do it. The clutch can then be used to aid main gearbox alignment.
Low - High can be done on the move once the knack has been found, but as with High to low i would come to stop first until it has been perfected! Usually what I do is put my landy in neutral on a slight slope of some sort and depress the clutch, then I give the transfer box a good push from high range to low range and let the vehicle just roll back a little and it seems to slip in nicely. Not sure if the way i do it is recommend, but it works.
