United Kingdom 2015 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 SW Corris Grey
Factory Tow Ball - 028AK
I collect a lightly used Defender on Saturday in my ideal spec... apart from one thing - no tow ball!

I only want OEM Land Rover equipment, but I'd ideally like the factory-spec 'tow ball with drop plate and electrics', which is option code 028AK. I don't actually have a specific trailer in mind to tow, but I'll shortly be doing my B+E licence and wish to use the Defender for it. After that I guess I'll get a trailer of my own, which will likely be something small for now just for carting rubbish etc. around in, but in the future I'll likely tow bigger stuff.

Is the factory tow ball the one to go for or is there a better dealer-fit option? It's terribly confusing for a novice like me as there seem to be lots of options and different electrical connections! Shocked Embarassed

Many thanks for your help. Thumbs Up

.....and fit an AL-KO towball, they're slightly deeper and longer nosed than most. They'll take any 50mm towsocket.
