In a fit of mad enthusiasm I have decided to tackle the 81 mile Etape Caledonia bike ride, 81miles with 1,196m of climb!!! In the beautiful Perthshire country side.
For details see http://www.etapecaledonia.co.uk/Home-Page Are any others on here taking part? I'll be travelling up from Cheshire in my 130 on Saturday 9th and back on Monday 11th May assuming I still any leg function left. I'm fundraising for Marie Curie Cancer Care the ride's nominated charity. Please help me make a difference to the far far too many people and their families who are dealing with cancer by making a donation to my Virgin Money Giving page. http://www.virginmoneygiving.com/RichardTiplady Don't forget to tick the box to reclaim Gift Aid on your donation if you're a UK tax payer. Virgin Money Giving will pass this on in full to charity, making your donation go even further. Thanks for your support, Richard 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper |

Just had a look at the dates, and may join the event. I just did the 65-Roses yesterday: http://www.65roses-springclassic.co.uk/, also will probably do the Palace to Palace "Ultra" in September (plus 2 MTB races) again in 2015 Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

Well I've just driven from Chester to Pitlochry in the 130 with bike on the back.
Forecast is bit rough for tomorrow, rain and wind so it will be hard slog, so far I've raised just over £2000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care so no matter how rough it gets I've got to finish it. I will be driving back down to Chester on Monday so wave if you pass me. Richard 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper |

How did you get on?
I managed to finish in just under six hours. The weather was howling! but what an amazing feeling to finish. It was my first time. COTAG 4x4 Response 2015 XS USW Corris Grey on DF MTR's |

I was on the A9 yesterday with Defender & trailer. Saw loads of cars with bikes attached presumably heading away from the event
Of course in a Defender you don't need bikes on the top/back, you can fit them inside Didn't see any Defenders that I can remember other than a couple heading North who waved Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

Excellent Ian excellent atmosphere at the finish, I did it in 5hrs 41minutes, very wet and bit cold at times but I still enjoyed it. Raised over £2,200 so I'm happy.
With 5000 taking part there must have been plenty of bike racks on the roads yesterday. I drove back today stopped for a tea break at a mates in Dunblane, just got home. Lots of wet cycling gear to wash now. Richard 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper |
