A Bar - Lamps Fitment?
If I wanted to fit an A Bar (thinking of a Simmonites one) and a pair of Lightforce 170 lamps on to a 2015MY with air con, would i need to fit some brackets so the lamps will fit without touching the grille?

Just cut the grill, your spots will stick out in front with brackets and wont look right, I had to do that with my wipacs.

You'll need an A bar for sir con models, that'll help.
Then ask the clearance, I'm sure if the company wants to sell something they'll oblige. Laughing

Cutting the grille is an option but didn't want to cut my KBX or even my original. I opted to make my own brackets that 'picked up' on the underside mounting brackets for the A-Bar itself. Yes they do protrude beyond the A-Bar but it doesn't bother me in the slightest as I don't offroad and wanted functionality over form, I then fitted a small square of high density foam between the lights and grille for extra stability .

I did not like the idea of cutting the grille so I also made brackets to move the lights forward. To avoid vibration the brackets are extra heavy duty so no other support is needed. The cable runs inside the a-bar.

Brackets MKII
I had originally manufactured a set of aluminium alloy brackets that picked up on the OEM A-Bar bolts to mount my Lightforce 240 XGT spotlamps. These brackets had served me well for the last 6 years. They could have been a little more robust perhaps?

A few weeks ago I had the misfortune of having some toe rag try to steal the lights. In their frustration to try and overcome the anti-tamper proof securing bolts they decided that brute force would perhaps give them what they wanted and they attempted to twist the lights off. Thankfully they didn't succeed.

Decided to upgrade the brackets and a quick word with the fabricators at work and a scrappy diagram with measurements and I now have the MKII version made from 3mm stainless steel. Bit of polishing required and along with my forthcoming driving light upgrade that'll be next weekend's jobs.

Finished work early this morning and rather than wake the household decided to fit the new Lighforce spotlamp brackets. Job off my list for the weekend.
