Is that brazillian 300TDi made by the same people who do the 2.8 TGV (and the 3.0 electronic 300TDi variant?) ... If so, I though they stopped making them?
If not, ignore me ! Interesting your comments about the JCB unit! The Ford Coyote ... How does that stack up against the likes of the "usual" Chevy LS set-up? They bolt up to the Merc Auto/Sequential conversion unit quite nicely! |

I'll upload a series of pictures here over the next few days that will give you a flavour of the build operation... Just for interest's sake.
This is the OVIK factory in Crossways - we have one in Poole too... Here we have a number of variants in build. Two destined for the UK and one for a S American customer. Click image to enlarge |

Thanks for sharing so much about your operation
Would love to see some photos of your chassis and the inner-flanged axles sound particularly interesting. |

I've sorted out the uglyness.
Click image to enlarge This is pretty much guaranteed to be better than whatever land rover up come with as a replacement defender. Maybe we can do a group buy or something? |

Here's hoping for lots of rich people to buy one, so that a) a second hand market appears and b) the cost comes down. I mean, what more could you want out of a utility vehicle? Jez: thank you so much for the insight. FWIW, I think it's a bit harsh comparing your specs to what I presume are Land Rover's, yours may be twice as good but they're also twice the price |

Click image to enlarge Now THATS exactly what I was on about I'm sure the Likes of SSE and National Grid would be interested as a new defender replacement. I'd buy one if I had the cash. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

CROSSWAY can be configured as left or right hand drive... No big deal there... Except.. the dash board is modular - with a centre console and left and right binnacles that can be swapped over - in less than 30 minutes. Moreover - the foot wells are also modular and inter changeable - so the pedal box etc ca be swapped over in minutes.. Thus the vehicle can easily be built in left or right hand drive but can also be re-handed at any time - in less than four hours. That's foot wells, instrument panels - steering column - steering box and steering geometry can all be changed in under four hours - with no cutting / welding / re-wiring necessary.. just a simple bolt job. Because all of our customers require specialist integrated equipment - we build the dashboard layout to suit.. the following images show the modular dash system - but also how we interpret customers' requirements, illustrate them and then design and build the dash layout to suit... All very bespoke.

I'm looking at that and thinking hmm if it had a demountable rear stock body a non armoured one could easily carry 15 big ewes more with decks and given the weight of the vehicle towing a big trailer wouldn't really slow it down, so yeah it may be expensive but it could also be useful. Not that I as a poor hill farmer could afford a new one but some of these rich lowland types could, then I could have a second hand one. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Hopefully headlight relays will be fitted as standard, if so please make a normal persons version of this!
I'm amazed at how much potential this company has.. with a normal civilian version and a modern interior like a discovery4 they could shift more of these than land rover do with the defender, it overcomes a lot of the shortfalls of the defender.. I hope the chassis/bulkhead is galvanised? |
