Flasher relay would be my first port of call. Get a multimeter (or someone that has one and knows how to use it) and your problem will be located in no time. The fog lamps should in no way interfere with your indicators if they have been wired in correctly and the indicators were working. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Not helpful to your problem, I am afraid, but what on earth is the point of fog lamps wired in with main beam, it is utterly pointless! The only time when fog lamps are useful is a time when you really don't want headlamps on at all, let alone on main beam.
Or are they really spot or driving lamps? I agree with K9 that the flasher unti is a possible suspect but it is curious that left fails and right works, since the same flasher unit is used. It could be a problem related to the load on the unit (caused perhaps by a short in the NS indicator circuit or a dud bulb). What happens if you switch the hazards on? What happens if you take the NS indicator bulbs out and turn on the NS indicator (obviously they won't flash but does the buzzing stop)? This might help to differentiate between a harness fault and a bulb fault. It is hard to see how the fog lights could be a contributing factor, but the fact they've been wired as they are raises questions of competence about the person who last messed with the wiring! |

Adding to Blackwolf's good suggestion about the indicator filaments etc. Could it be possible the fogs do have a short and have a shared earth perhaps with the left hand front indicators? Disconnect the fogs, remove the fog fuse (if they've gone as far as fitting one) or take the fog filaments out first and try again.
We could theorise all day long, every day on this one, get a multimeter as said. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

The hazards are working. I have replaced the flasher relay before and it did not solve the issue. Im going to test this over the weekend with the suggestions and my friend who is an electrical engineer and post back up here. Thanks so much.

The fact that the hazards work narrows down the problem quite a lot, since it suggests that the bulbs and all the wiring between the dash and the bulbs is OK, although it does in many ways make the problem even stranger!
Please let us know how you get on and what you find - you certainly have and "unusual" fault! |

Have you checked the switch?
Just sounds like a failed switch that is not making full contact and so is arking causing the relay to buzz. Andy |

I am hoping to work on this over the weekend, ordered a switch and relay last night. I was thinking it could be the switch because I had another one go bad a few years back.

My arm is in a removable cast at the moment so unable to work on it for another week or so...did upload a video and I think it may be be both a switch and a bad bulb. The right side was not doing the fast blink as of a few days ago.

No, I was going to fit the WIPAC led kit and fix the fog lamps at the same time.

I see, the standard relay would flash like that with LED's due to the lack of resistance, is there good contact on the bulbs/ holders? Might be worth checking.

Wouldn't a bad bulb do the same thing for the right blinker?

so this issue resolved itself when I switched to the wipac leds.
New issue, the high beams flash when I put the directional blinker to the right. Bad switch? Related? |
