I am so glad I have a 2.4 not a 2.2! My (BAS-mapped) 2.4 will potter along quite happily on tickover in 1st or 2nd and then accelerate as smoothly as a smooth thing when the acclerator is pressed. It amazes me how something so right on the 2.4 became so wrong on the 2.2, and i am convinced that the relative design inputs of Ford and Landrover is the only explanation.

Me too, only mines got an Alive map.
Was just thinking the last few days how well it's running and that it's never been so nice to drive.
Both power and smoothness etc.

custom90steve, soon you will be able to add BAS2 Remote Remap Control tool to an existing non BAS tune should you ever need diagnostics Smile

It's everything Steve.

Diagnostics fault codes, Live data, VCV reset, Injector programming, Pilot correction resets etc etc. basically everything apart from the remap as you already have one.

Pete,

Does the puma 2.2 have a specific map for the defender or is it the same as the one for the transit custom?

The reason I ask is that I run a 2014 Transit custom DCIV with the 125ps engine fitted and I have noticed the same 'kangarooing' issues with that. It recently went into the Ford dealer for a software recall (would that be a re-map) and this has improved the kangarooing but I now get what feels as if the vehicle is surging on low revs in 3rd and 4th gears.

I took it back to the dealers and they said that as the software has been reset the surging is a characteristic of the vehicle re-learning my driving style, does this seem likely or is he pulling my plonker?

Cheers,

Paul

Landrover must have changed a few things because my 12 reg defender used to hop about all over the shop. My 14 reg is fantastic works really well. A lot smoother and seems to pull better.

The SID208 engine ecu used on all of the models has the same issues in some shape or form exactley as to what I posted and explained was the problem earler in March this year back in this very thread.

All the new "tuner" released smoothed out modifications and fixes seen as well as my own not excluding the new Autobiography 150 map is based arround the very same quirky areas amongst others I hilighted and so obviousley pointed out where the problem was lying with the calibration back then.

This is no miracle fix they have mysteriously just come up with on their own they were handed the descriptive problem and needed fix on a plate to sort out Smile

I dont think it will be much longer before a genuine updates for Ford out too Thumbs Up

Regards Pete
