Hello all. How easy is it to wire in roof mounted spotlights?
I have seen a spotlight wiring loom for a puma on eBlag: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...K:MEWAX:IT Would that be what I need? Where do you generally route the wires from the back of the lamps? Down the RAI, into the engine bay? Where woudl the loom attach? What then happens about switches for the things? Is there wire waiting to be used behind the dummy buttons on the dash? Pearls of wisdom greatfully received. The extent of my wiring skills extend to connecting towbar electrics and rewiring my Sankey. |

It's very easy.
Put a relay under the bonnet. Take a fused power supply from the alternator lug to the relay, and run an earth from the relay to a good point on the chassis. Then run a feed from a main-beam switched vehicle wire, through a switch of your choise to the relay. Then run a fourth wire from the relay to the lights, which will also need an earth. I'd not spend £25 on a pre-build loom as I could knock one up in no time, but if you don't have terminals, wire, conduit, heatshrink, solder etc it might just be worth buying one. My blog - www.anacreinhampshire.blogspot.co.uk 110 TD5 BuildHERE - sold! 110 Tdci Build HERE - sold! Passat Alltrack - 4x4, auto, 45mpg, gloriously comfortable - but not a Defender! |
