I'm not sure what the exact difference is. My XS has half-leather seats, with the front ones heated, ABS and TC, AC and I think that is about it.

Pom I had the same question when I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago, the price between them is only £3k ish but I then sat down with the dealer and went through the specs and priced the county with the extras that I wanted heated seat (womans request), AC, traction control/ABS.
(The AC is over £1k and the traction control/ABS is about £1.5k or the other way round) I didn't want the grey grill as i'm after and all black looking defender and I didn't the side steps or cubby box because the steps are going to be replaced with sliders with tree bars and I'm after a locking cubby box. By the time I totaled every thing up I was under £500 from the price of the XS that has every thing as standard so with the possibility of a better resale when I decided to trade up again I could n't see the point of buying the county and over specing it, at least I have unwanted parts on the defender which I can now sell if I want to to buy the parts I want. Hope this helps Russell p.s.One thing that you all haven't mentioned is the all important rear storage net on the back door, oh and what is a FBH?? |

I was the same as russ when I brought my utility xs. I wanted the ac abs and heated seats so spec'ing is not worth it unless u really don't want those bits.
Other alternative is a base model in white as if you are going to KEN it then it looks good with black arches and the standard roof white too. Then maybe spec a few of the xs extras on that. It would be a cheaper starting price to get u on the road and decide in due course on the toys. |

thanks for the replies. I definitely want AC. Not really fussed about TC - is it as good as the D3 ? Or would i be better saving the cash and having air lockers fitted ?
FBH - Fuel Burning Heater that warms up the engine before you leave the house. Pom |

Agree with other comments, if not XS then go for a base model with A/C and add an ARB rear diff lock if you plan some serious off-road use, if not don't bother as a Defender with the right tyres will go pretty much anywhere a skilful pilot can take it
Oh - Central locking may not be fitted to the base one which could a PITA ona 5 door! Andy |

Just remember to speak to your dealer about lockers they may try to void your warranty if fitted.

Only the 5 door 110 utility station wagons are commercial classified, if they have side sliding windows above the rear wheels they are private light goods.
Are you lookign for a quick buy then? |
